It's 2:00 a.m. do you know where your belongings are?

Trevor and I were surprised to come home at 2:00 a.m. Sunday night to find that our loft had been broken into an ran-sacked! We turned on the light to our loft, and our apt and saw a couple boxes out of place on the landing, just to look at the loft and see that Trevor's nice diamond back bike was not there, and all our boxes had been ripped open and a mess of all our belongings were scattered everywhere! Not sure if we should call the cops right away, we finished un-packing the car so we could lock it and get into the house! Trevor called his mom and while on the phone he walked outside and saw that our new sleeping bags had been thrown in the snow on the side of the house! We decided to call the cops. Two officers arrived about 10 minutes later and took a report, gave us their card and left! They kept saying that it was not easy like they make it in CSI to get fingerprints, so really there was nothing they could do for us! I was so upset and felt so violated!! Trevor was furious!! We put all our boxes and belongings back in to place and tried to settle down for the night. Every sound we heard Trevor jumped up and looked out side and in our loft, but it was nothing. You bet we slept with our pistol next to the bed! But, whoever it was is clearly long gone!
It makes me upset that there was nothing else that could be done by the officers. It seems to me that a fingerprint would be easy to retrieve. There have only been so many people who have touched our door handle, or our sleeping bags, or our boxes!! I just don't understand how our life could be violated in such a large way, and to have no justice!! So, today I have been calling all the pawn shops I could find and see if they had someone bring in a bike either Sunday or Monday. No progress so far. We have a good idea of who did it, but without sufficient proof, there is nothing the cops will do. We wanted them to question our neighbors, but they didn't. So, we did it ourselves, and it is clear as to who it was. So what is the next step? I have no idea. I called the officer and gave him the name of the person we suspect, and I am waiting to hear back from him. It just makes me sick to my stomach because Trevor is gone out of town so often! I was just home alone for nearly three months, and I would be terrified to be home alone anytime soon!! We have been talking about getting our concealed weapons permits, and after this incident, we have decided to do it sooner than later.

Baptism

Trevor and I went to Colorado this weekend for Brayden's baptism. It was such a great weekend! I had to work on Friday so we did not get on the road until about 7:00. Our drive was thankfully un-eventful. We did go through some fog, that was really cool. We drove under the fog, it was a cool sight! Saturday our nephew Brayden was baptized by his dad, it was really cool to see someone take such a big step! The spirit in the room was really strong! I can't wait till we have children, and to have Trevor baptize them! Sunday was really nice too. Although I woke with a bad migraine, we got to go to church and see Brayden confirmed as a member of the church. We stayed for all classes, then we went back to Buck's and Julie's for dinner and the football game. It was a great weekend, but it went by too fast!

Tasty

I made those tasty cookies last night! They were so simple and delicious! It took like half hour from start to finish. I used my new Kitchen-aid mixer I got for Christmas from my brother and sister in law, and I loved it!

The recipe has only Three ingredients so it was practically full proof! You take:

1 c. Butter
1/2 c. Sugar
2 c. Flour

Preheat oven to 375. In a medium bowl, beat butter for 30 seconds. Beat in sugar until completely combined. Scraping the sides of the bowl, add the flour. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Press your thumb into ball and make imprint. Bake 10-12 min (i only did 9). Set on cooling rack and cool.

After the cookies are cool, you can dress them up as you like. I added some jam to a few of them. On others I put vanilla frosting with a bit of vanilla sprinkled on top. If you have any Hershey kisses, press those into the cookies while they are still hot, that way the bottom of the kiss melts to the cookie and does not slip off.

Amazing find!

I was reading the newspaper at lunch today, "The Mix" section, it had a great article on food blogs! I have always loved finding new and fun recipes. Even though I hardly cook what I find, I love to see them, and imagine enjoying them! Anyway, one of my resolutions this year is to try a new recipe when I find one that I really like! As I was reading this article about food blogs, I came across one that I L-O-V-E-D!! The blog is called: beachbakeaholic.blogspot.com
It's wonderful! Tonight, I am going to try out the butter jam drop cookies! They look very tasty, and very easy. I have not been grocery shopping in a while, but I have all these ingredients on hand, so it should be fun!
Stay tuned to see what they look like, and if they are as good as I am hoping they are!!

Reality Check

This past June I started a new job with Selecthealth. I had worked for a company called P5 for 4 years, and after nine months of constant struggle within the company, and daily fear of losing my job, it was time to go. Changing jobs was perhaps the best thing I could have done for myself career wise. I was going no-where in a small company, and I needed a chance to move forward. I needed a fresh and clean start with no preconceived notions.I now have a job, that out of 800+ employees, I feel more valued as an individual then I did at a company with less than 100 employees. My job is secure, and we are truly pampered here. I don't think I could work at a better company right now. Yesterday my mom called me and told me that 10 people were laid off from P5. And, I can safely say that if I had still been there I would have been one of them. I sit here on my lunch today at work and am so unbelievably grateful for the choice that I made to move on. It was super hard to leave the life I had been accustomed to for the last 4 years. P5 was my first real job, and I did a lot of growing up there. It was not all bad, but it was bad in the end. Some of those people who were laid off yesterday were my friends, one of them was my closest confidant while working there. I feel really sad for her, and for my friends. I wish them all the best!
