Where has Christmas gone?

I was in Wal-mart last Friday morning getting a few treats for a birthday at work. While I was waiting in line, their was a nice man in front of me who upon collecting his items turned around and wished me a Merry Christmas. I nodded back and wished him a Merry Christmas as well. The clerk at the register looked at the both of us, and told us that we were not allowed to say that in wal-mart. Feeling very frustrated and annoyed, I looked back at the man, and very loudly wished him another Merry Christmas. He smiled and winked and went on his way. The clerk who was now checking me out, would not look, or speak to me, all because the words Merry Christmas were spoken. When she was finished and I had paid, I politely wished and the people in line behind me a very Merry Christmas and went on my way.
As I drove back to work, I felt very angry about the events that had just happened. For one thing, Wal-mart is what like the busiest place during the Christmas season? They sell millions upon millions of Christmas toys, and clothes and Christmas dinners across the United states, and then they tell you not to say Merry Christmas in their store? Talk about a mixed message. And, with all of the millions of purchases, should they not know that there are more people than not who celebrate this holiday? I am not really the person who likes to talk about this kind of thing because it makes me very angry, and because I feel like it is a waste of breathe most of the time. But, I feel that it is time for me to share my feelings on the matter.
Christmas is an American Holiday, it is observed by our Country as a Holiday, they print it on our Calendars every year. Post offices are closed, and so are the banks. If we are not allowed to say Merry Christmas, then why do these facilities close in observance of Christmas? Well that is because the majority of the "citizens" of this country celebrate Christmas!! That is right, the MAJORITY celebrate Christmas. However, as usual, it is the minority who's voices are heard. Why? Why do we as the majority follow what a small group of fascist, liberal, nut-jobs? Why do we let them ruin what we have Celebrated since the birth of Christ?? Why do we let them tell us what we can and can not say? Why? It is a time old question, and I think that it is high time for the majority to stand up for their rights. Yes, it is the right of an atheist not to celebrate a Holiday that is supposed to be centered around Christ. But, is is also a right of a Christian to celebrate that very same holiday. It is the right for me to tell express my Christmas wishes to the next person in line, just as it is for that person to simply say Happy Holidays. Why must there be so much contention and misunderstanding. If a person wished me a Happy Hanukah, I would wish them the same back, I am not Jewish, but I would not be offended if someone were to wish me a Happy Hanukah. If someone said Happy Kwanza, great! All these wishes of merry-ment are because people believe in something. It is because people believe that we have these celebrations. If I wanted to wish someone a Merry Christmas, that would be my right as an American Citizen, and more importantly as a someone who believe in Christ.

I know that I am not going to change the course of our nations events with this blog, but I would like everyone to know that I BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS. And, I am going to say Merry Christmas to everyone, even if it is not the PC thing to do anymore. I believe in the miracle and the religious meaning of Christmas, and I am filled with joy to believe in such things. So...

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Daisy

Well, Daisy is gone. :( She went to live at a new home. My little girl will now be the center of attention for two little kids. We had to find her a new home, when Trevor's dad's allergies became too strong to ignore. We knew he had allergies when we bought her, but figured it would be ok since she stays at our home. But, unfortunately his allergies still got the better of the situation.
So, with a very saddened heart, I listed her on ksl.com. And, after a week, she is gone. I hope that she is not confused, or sad at her new home. I know that we are very sad without her.

Sweaters and Soups

Fall has been my FAVORITE time of year for the longest time for many reasons... I love the beautiful colors that you only experience once a year. I love the bite in the air that makes wearing a sweater that much sweeter. I love the start of soup season! There is something that a hot bowl of homemade soup that can make everything alright. Fall brings a sort of excitement that can never be replicated. I love the smells and the tastes of fall; The spiced apples to the toasted almonds. Two of the best holidays are in the fall. Halloween, and it's pumpkin carving, and dressing up and trick or treating. Thanksgiving for the opportunity to be with family, and to share our blessings and joys with one another over perhaps the best meal of the year. I wish it would last a little longer and come a little sooner. But, then again, it is fun to wait each year for the magic that is fall!!

Winterizing...

So this past weekend, we started to winterize our apartment, since it is started to SNOW this weekend!! First off, our apartment is part of a house that is like 100 years old, so winterizing it is no small task. We have three windows in our apartment, one in our room, one in the living room, and one in the kitchen. All three are probably the original windows glass and all. The window in the kitchen has had a small crack in it since we moved in, although I did not discover it until we has been there for at least a month! The window in our room shattered about a month ago, but we have had the fan in the window until this weekend so it had not mattered. And the window in our living room cracked this past week! Talk about a mess!!! Normally this is something that the landlord should take care of, but we replacing them and deducting them from our rent. Trevor spent the afternoon on Friday sealing the windows in the kitchen and living rooms, and they are ok for now. On Saturday Trevor's dad came over and helped Trevor put a new window in our room. It has made a tremendous difference to have all the windows sealed up correctly!! Yesterday I made some wind stoppers to go underneath our door, I had some extra flannel material and batting and it came in handy! Hopefully our apartment will be warmer this year.
Aside from winterizing, we had my little brother stay with us on Saturday night. He is a sophomore this year and is just starting to date, so we had a fun time teasing him about his girlfriends. I made roast for Sunday dinner last night, and we had some rented movies that we watched. All in all it was a good weekend.

Long time my friends...

So It has been a VERY long time since I have posted anything on here! Things have been so hectic for Trevor and I this summer. In June, our nephews came into town from Oklahoma and Colorado, so we were super busy playing with them. It was really sad to see them go earlier this month. I celebrated my 23rd birthday in June as well! It was a fun day! I got a new job in June too! I started at Select Health on June 23rd, and I love it here!! I was at my last job 4 years so it was nice to have a change! It was hard to leave though. In July we had a chance to go camping a few times. Over the 4th of July we camped at the Provo River at the family property. On the 4th, we went floating down the river and I was tethered to my nephew's tube and we got wrapped around a trussel under one of the bridges. My tube went under and was lost forever! I was sucked down to the bottom of the river and and up about ten feet away. It was a very scary situation. My nephew was thankfully wearing a life jacket and, although traumatized, was safe and sound. After that, I was done floating that trip! We did some more camping on the 24th weekend, again at the river! This time my mom and little brother came! It was so much fun! I did not get any fishing in, but I had fun with all the nephews! I have a very big imagination so they like me to play a lot! I love being the "Favorite" Aunt. So far in August, we have been through a lot as well. The 4th was our one year wedding anniv. It was a crazy day! Nothing; Nothing went as it was supposed to go that day... We planned to go golfing early that morning, but woke up very late. So we finally made it to the course, and while waiting for our tee time, I hurt my wrist, so we had to take a rain check. Having all afternoon open we decided to see the movie The Dark Night! (Great movie) I got really sick about half way through the movie, and when it was over we went home to take some medicine and lay down for a few min until dinner. Trevor got called to work, and we did not end up going to dinner until 10:00 and by then the only thing open was Del Taco. So that was our first anniv! The next day however was a lot better, and we got to go golfing, and have a nice dinner, so it was ok by me! And, I even got flowers! First time in three years!!! He did a great job! Other than that, our summer has been pretty normal. Trevor has been super busy at work lately, which is a huge blessing, with the economy right now work has been slow. But after much praying things are starting to really pick up! Now we just need to be blessed with a little one and life will be perfect!!

Camping

This past weekend Trevor and I went camping at his farm in Fairview. It was just the two of our puppies and us. We drove down Friday night, and came home Sunday Morning. We got down there just as the sun was setting Friday and set up camp. It was such a nice night. It sprinkled for just a few minutes as we cooked dinner though. We got to use our dutch oven for the first time since our wedding. I cooked us chicken and sautéed onions. I think I am going to have to start using the dutch oven more often because the onions were burnt to a crisp! The chicken was nice though. After Dinner we roasted a few Marshmallows. Marshmallows are Trevor's favorite! He is the most patient person I know when it comes to roasting them. He likes to make them as fluffy as possible without turning them brown. He is the best marshmallow roaster! We took our tent with us, but decided that we wanted to sleep in the back of the Montero. We folded up the back seat, cause we did not know that we could take it out. Trevor is nearly 6 feet tall and the space that we had to sleep in was about 5 feet long and the same width wide! Plus, I forgot our pillows! Half The Night our feet were up on the back window! And with the two dogs it was a mess. Needless to say it was not a very restful night. Early Saturday Morning Daisy woke us up cause she needed to go potty. So we put her on her leash and put her outside. Hoping to get a little more sleep we let her play with Ogie for a while. When we woke up there were 4 vultures circling our car!! Talk about scary!! I was so nervous! We had to rush and get the dogs rounded up so they did not get hurt. Luckily the vultures were scared of us so they left. On Saturday we ate cherry cobbler for breakfast and figured out how to take the back seat out of the Montero. Creating about three more feet of space! It was so much better to sleep in! We played phase ten for a little while after breakfast trying to figure out what to do next. Then we decided to take a drive into town and get a shake. We can't go to the farm with out getting a shake! Trevor always gets caramel, and I always get raspberry. We go to this place called T-Cees. They make the best shakes! I had never been to the Fairview museum so we decided to go there. Trevor's grandpa was a photographer for the State of Utah and has some things in the Museum. It was such a cool experience. In the newer part of the Museum there is a Wooley Mammoth skeleton that they had found in Sanpete County. There were also pictures of the historic Indian wars that took place in the county. In the old Museum we found a portrait of one of Trevor's ancestors. We did not see the pictures from his grandpa because they rotate the pictures that they have and his was in the storage area. But it was interesting nonetheless. We saw and old perm machine that looked terrifying! We also saw and old dentist chair. Trevor told me he would be more scared to get a perm than he would be going to the dentist. I agreed. It was pretty scary looking! We wandered around for a few hours. Saturday Night we roasted brat worst and more marshmallows. It was a great night! We brought our portable DVD player along with us, and watched a movie before bed. Sunday morning, we woke up and had to rush home for mother's day and church.

Terrific Tutu

A-lot of new and exciting things have been happening for Trevor and I this month. I started a new business venture. I started to make Tutu’s. I make them for dance classes and for dress up. I dropped off a few flyers at a couple local dance studios and my local grocery stores. So far business has been really great. I had a few calls from people from my ad on Ksl.com. I brought a flyer into work and quite a few people have ordered a tutu! It is so fun to make them! I really enjoy sewing and creating crafts! Hopefully I will have my business license soon. I want to make this my full time business eventually.

Daisy

Trevor and I bought a puppy and brought it home last week! She is so adorable! Her name is Daisy. She is a tan color Cocker Spaniel. She has a white spot on her nose, and one blue eye and one brown eye! She has been so enjoyable to have! She is very loving and loves to cuddle! She is the funniest little sleeper too! She rolls around and twitches every time she goes to fall asleep! She is also very rambunctious. She likes to bite at everything! Our noses, our ears and our chins are all targets that she often goes for. She is still learning that she is not supposed to go potty in the house. She is getting there though. At night she wakes up every few hours to go potty. It has been like having a little baby!
Our other dog Auggie is not sure what to do with her yet. She wants to play with him so bad, but he is a little grumpy towards her. I hope that when she calms down a little he will warm up to her.
